I’m always on the lookout for something fun to sample. As an experiment, I wondered what kind of sound I’d get from duct taping a bunch of soup cans together, end to end. The next thing I knew, I had 20 cans taped together and then recorded sample sets, taking away one can at a time to build a unique melodic instrument. Soup Can-umdrum is a spiritual successor to one of my earliest sample libraries, Cardboard Tube Drum.
